General information about travelling to Turkey
Purpose of travel
Before travelling, it is important to determine the purpose of entry. A tourist trip, a short business meeting, work, study, internship and long-term stay belong to different categories and may require different documents.
Electronic visa
An electronic visa is arranged online and is suitable only for tourist and business purposes. After approval, it should be saved on your phone and preferably printed out.
Passport validity
Check the validity of your passport before buying tickets. To enter Turkey, the document must have a sufficient validity period after the permitted period of stay (usually 60 days after the end of the trip). To apply for an electronic visa, the passport must be valid for at least 8 months at the time of visa application.
Medical insurance
We recommend arranging travel medical insurance for the entire trip. The policy can be arranged at our visa centre or remotely by sending an e-mail to
Overstaying
Do not exceed the permitted period of stay in Turkey. Violating the stay period may lead to fines, entry restrictions and problems with future trips.
Documents at the border
Border control may ask you to show a return ticket, hotel booking, address of stay, insurance or explain the purpose of the trip. It is better to keep the documents at hand.
Payment and currency
The currency in Turkey is the Turkish lira. Bank cards are often accepted in tourist areas, but it is recommended to have some cash. Euros and US dollars can be exchanged for Turkish lira at most exchange offices.
